Decentralized wastewater plants continue to be one of the most sustainable and cost-effective methods for wastewater treatment in remote locations. In addition, onsite wastewater reuse produces a new local water source for irrigation, cooling towers and toilet flushing.
Aqwise is implementing its AGAR® MBCR technology (Moving Bed Clarifying Reactor) on the shores of the famous Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth.
The new onsite plant will treat wastewater from a resort village. The treated effluent will be reused for irrigation of nearby date palm plantations.
The AGAR® MBCR is a proprietary technology which was developed by Aqwise to reduce capital and operational costs related to handling of excess sludge generated in the wastewater treatment system. The MBCR combines an MBBR reactor with an integral clarifier. This configuration results in reduced footprint and capital expenses, compared to MBBR followed by conventional solids removal systems.
